Flex and the goldfish

Jameson has an African Clawed Frog, named Flex, who lives in a 10-gallon aquarium. Flex has been with us since he was a tadpole, and he's quite a fellow - soft to the touch, and fun to watch. We like to get him out of the aquarium and watch him swim in the bathtub, especially when friends are over. It's a big hit with the kids.

Recently Jameson was the happy recipient of 7 new goldfish from Andrew at the church (thanks Andrew). We set up a little aquarium for 4 of the fish, and put the other 3 in the tank with Flex. I explained to Jameson that Flex would probably eat the new fish, because they were so small, but Jameson figured we'd give it a try.

There are no more goldfish in the tank with Flex. I actually witnessed the unfortunate demise of one of the fish, and it wasn't pretty.

Anyway, yesterday after church, after the last goldfish was consumed, we went to visit Nana and Papa. Jameson happened to get a bag full of Goldfish crackers at Sunday school, and was steadily eating them. When we got to the house, Jameson said, "Look Nana, I'm Flex!" And ate a goldfish.

Ah, the resilience of children.
